How strict are they about front plates? You could just remove it entirely

I was pulled over the other day for no front plate, it’s a rural area so the officer has a good chance of seeing my car regularly. I asked him about the legality of placing it off center and he said he didn’t know but it’s best in the center. After looking at the law it appears that it just needs to be on the front of the car, so soon it will be over the lh vent.

Fair enough. The cops up here don’t seem to care, as I pass the same ones hundreds of times a year with all the short, local trips I do. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but are Windshield plate placements something people get away there..?

I did the windshield plate for a few months and got pulled over for noise violations (no exhaust past the front seats at the time) and while talking to me they told me to put a plate on the front. I put the plate on and drove like that for many months. I got a different bumper and went plateless for a year with no problems until the fresh highway patrols showed up. The new guys are from the city(I’m guessing but I know they were transfered) so they cite people for petty violations that the older cops didn’t care about.
